Thurston County CFD Recognition Event is a hit

More than 170 volunteers came out and celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with the Combined Fund Drive while honoring their achievements from the 2015 Annual Giving Campaign. The Thurston County CFD Recognition Event was filled with good food, drinks, awards and even door prizes.

The event kicked off with the Thurston County CFD Steering Committee giving out local awards to volunteers who went above and beyond in Thurston County. The state CFD also presented their statewide awards, recognizing agencies with high participation, and awarding individual volunteers and leaders for their efforts as well.

A special presentation from the South Sound Reading Foundation was also a part of the festivities, thanking Thurston County state employees for their efforts in the face of a break-in at the local charity on December 19. Through the incredible work of the local volunteers, the CFD raised more than $1,100 and donated over 1,600 books in just five days.

The night culminated in an uplifting keynote address from Secretary of State Kim Wyman, who credited CFD volunteers for the $5.2 million raised throughout the state as a result of the campaign, and more than $1.3 million in Thurston County alone.
