CFD rolls out a new policy for minimum donation amounts

In order to better serve its member charities, the Combined Fund Drive state office has issued a new policy requiring that all payroll contributions be at least $1 per paycheck per charity.

This new policy will help make reconciliation and disbursement easier for the state CFD office, and will maximize the amount of money going to specific charities (due to the amount of time and resources charities have to spend on each donation, many contributions under $1 per paycheck actually cost charities money).

All new donors will notice this change when they go to complete their donations, while current donors giving less than $1 per pay period will be contacted by the state CFD office or their campaign leaders.

While this particular policy impacts fewer than three percent of the donation dollars in the program, it will help cut down the amount of time fiscal personnel are working on reconciliation issues, ultimately allowing for more time to be dedicated to raising money.

Not sure what $1 per period can do? Here are just a few examples of how your donations, no matter how small, can impact your community:

$1 per pay period – Helps provide emergency aid to 5,000 disaster victims

$1 per pay period – Buys a measles vaccination for one child from the American Red Cross

$2.50 per pay period – provides three families with milk and eggs for one week from the Thurston County Food Bank

$3 per pay period – Buys one blanket for a disaster victim from the American Red Cross

$5 per pay period – Purchases 30 pounds of nutritious fruits, vegetables, meat and staples, the equivalent of 23 meals for hungry families from Northwest Harvest
