The history of Byrd Barr Place dates back to 1964 with the idea of helping people move from poverty to self-sufficiency and building the Black community’s political strength and economic wealth within Seattle. Today, Byrd Barr Place continues their mission through creating a more equitable Seattle through programs and advocacy that enable people to live healthier, prosperous lives.

The CFD visited and spoke about their connection to Seattle and King County area and the services they provide to more than 20,000 people a year.
