This November, we ran our 2023 charity sweepstakes, sponsored by TwinStar Credit Union. This was open to any state employee or retiree who started a recurring payroll deduction of $2 or more per month, or increased a current deduction by $2 per month in the CFD system. Participants would then be entered into a raffle to be able to donate $2,000 to a CFD-member charity of their choice!
Our lucky winner this year is Stephanie Prentice, Community Engagement Officer at the Secretary of State's Office. She chose to donate the $2,000 award to the Thurston County Food Bank, a charity she shares a special tie with. "About 35 years ago, I used the food bank myself," Stephanie explained. "I was a single mom raising a daughter and used the program several times when I needed some help." Now years later, Stephanie is happy to be able to give back to the place that had once served her, "This community means a lot to me. I believe food is a basic need everyone should have and I think the Thurston County Food Bank does amazing work to fight food insecurity."
A former member of the CFD for nine years and current monthly donor, Stephanie is no stranger to the impact of the Combined Fund Drive. "It is cool to see at the end of the year that my small monthly donations really add up. I feel good knowing that everyone giving even just a little can make a big difference for these charities."
Again, congratulations Stephanie and the Thurston County Food Bank!
